Welcome to Serenity Among Wildflowers! I’m Michaela, a wife, mother, sister, daughter, granddaughter, homemaker, dog mom, and aspiring homesteader, and I’m excited to share my journey with you. Once this site goes live, I guess I can officially add “blogger” to that list, too!
My life is a beautiful, chaotic mix of all of these roles. Between managing a home, raising two kids under the age of three, and balancing the constant internal dialogue that comes with ADHD, it’s a wonder I don’t run on caffeine alone. If you were to ask me when I was in college, I would have told you I could never be a stay-at-home mom—I had big dreams of owning my own veterinary practice. Fast forward to today, and I can tell you with certainty that nothing means more to me than being a mom. I can always go back to work if I choose, but my kids will only be little once, and I don’t want to miss it.
Since meeting my husband, boredom has been a foreign concept. He never sits still, and our crazy life is a reflection of that. We decided to “add a little bit of spice” by throwing two under two into the mix by year three of our marriage, and needless to say, things only got crazier. We’re always saying, “life will slow down in a few weeks,” but it never really does.

That’s part of the reason I started this blog. I wanted a place to document my adventures into homesteading, share what’s working (and what’s not), and create a space to look back at all the sweet memories we’re making along the way. Life is messy, but there’s beauty in it—if we choose to find it.
Why I Started This Blog
Serenity Among Wildflowers is a way for me to reflect on the journey I’m taking as a stay-at-home mom and aspiring homesteader. I wanted to share the ups and downs of motherhood, ADHD, and the process of homesteading. In between chasing toddlers, wrangling pets, and trying to keep the house from completely falling apart, I’m also continuing to find low/non-toxic products, make sourdough, and live more intentionally. Spoiler alert: it’s not always graceful, but it’s real.
I’m also a former teacher, so I find joy in creating little learning moments with my kids, especially my toddler. I love to incorporate small, fun activities to keep them engaged and curious, even if it’s just for a few minutes. I’m learning to blend my love for teaching with the everyday realities of motherhood, and I’m excited to share those moments with you.
What You’ll Find Here
You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at my life and all the beautiful chaos that comes with it. Here’s what you can expect to find:
Food Prep, Baking, and Sourdough: I’m venturing into the world of homemade bread, prepping meals, and baking. If you love the smell of fresh bread baking in the oven or just need a little inspiration for your own kitchen, you’re in the right place.
Low-Tox Living: Since becoming a mom, I’ve been on a journey to find better options when it comes to food and household items we use everyday. Follow along to see what we have swapped so far and what swaps we will make in the future.
Toddler Learning Activities: As a former teacher, I’m always trying to find simple, fun activities that encourage learning. I’ll be sharing some of the things that work for us (and some that don’t!) as we go along.
Homesteading Adventures: I haven’t started my homesteading journey yet, but I’m so excited to take you along as I learn. From planting my first garden to eventually raising animals (fingers crossed!), I’ll be sharing all of my successes and mistakes as I dive into this new adventure.
Life with ADHD: Navigating life with ADHD means my brain is constantly buzzing. I’ll share how I manage ADHD while balancing all my roles and learning how to slow down amidst the chaos.
Real-Life Reflections: Life is a mix of challenges and beautiful moments. Through all of this, I’ll reflect on the real, messy, and joyful aspects of motherhood and homemaking.
A Little About My Background
I’ve had a winding path to get here, and I’ll go into more detail about my story in my first blog post, but here’s a quick rundown: I started college with dreams of becoming a veterinarian, but life had other plans. I eventually became a property administrator, then went back to school to earn my teaching degree. And now, here I am—a stay-at-home mom trying to use all of my past experiences to make the most of the present.
Raising two kids is hands down my greatest accomplishment. It’s not always easy, but I’m constantly amazed at how much joy and purpose they bring to my life. My life may look different than I imagined, but it’s everything I never knew I needed.
What I Hope You’ll Take Away
If you’re here, I hope you’ll find inspiration, comfort, and maybe even a little humor in the messiness of life. This blog is a place where we can embrace the chaos, celebrate the small moments, and find peace amidst it all. Whether you’re a fellow mom, homesteader, or someone looking for a relatable space to learn and grow, I’m so glad you’re here.
Thank you for joining me on this journey—one that’s filled with wildflowers, messes, and lots of love. I hope you’ll follow along and enjoy Serenity Among Wildflowers.
